BREAKING: Video: UEW Students Demonstration Spike the School’s Close down

University of Education, Winneba, has been closed down, serving with immediate effect, following the students demonstration from Monday to Thursday, 14 March, 2019.

This was as a result of the dismissal of some lecturers and non teaching staff from the institution, hence the students  are demonstrating to demand justice for these sacked officers from the school.

The demonstration is also calling for the immediate dismissal of the Vice Chancellor of the school , Rev. Prof. Afful-Broni.

Earlier report made to state that the police in an attempt to prevent and calm the situation down fired a number of warning shots to clear the scene.

Report from the scenes indicating that more than hundred ”tear-gas” were fired including unnumbered shot from AK.47 and other guns.

In minute after the Central regional minister’s issued the school shut down today, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong and a colleague member are at the school to calm the demonstrators.

” I have given the students up to close of 6pm  to leave the campus, I have acted base on the law, I have done what I suppose to do to prevent lives and properties ” Central Regional Minister, Hon. Kwamina Dunkan.

A number of properties have been damaged including the ”Junior Common Room”, the wind-screen of the Students Representative Council, cars and the bill boards.
