Minister of State in charge of Tertiary Education, Professor Kwesi Yankah has urged the Governing Council for University of Education, Winneba (UEW) to restore calm following a protest by students over the dismissal of some senior staff of the school.
The Minister made the appeal while addressing the press after meeting with school authorities for several hours.

Education–University of Education Dismissed two Lecturers
UEW dismisses lecturers who challenged ex-VC Avoke sacking.
The sacking of a senior lecturer of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Dr. Frimpong Kaakyire Duku, who is the local President of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has sparked fresh protests on campus.
A second senior lecturer, Professor Ephraim Avea Nsoh, Principal of the College of Languages Education at Ajumako has also been reportedly sacked but on a radio interview with Accra based Class FM on Monday March 11, Prof Avea Nsoh said he was yet to receive the sacking letter even though he has heard about it.
The Students are calling the immediate call-back of these lecturers by the University heads, otherwise they will spark ”demonstration which will be far a head than what happened at KNUST ”.
